What is it?  Buhurt is an international, medieval, team combat sport! Fighters join a team, get your armor (some smiths have generic sizes are available or custom kits smithed just for them), and train together to compete in fights that range from 3 vs 3, 5 vs 5, to 100 vs 100 full scale battles.

Is it real?  Yes! Fighters are wearing historically accurate, hand forged steel armor. Each fighter is carrying anywhere between 50-80lbs (or more) of armor depending on his or her size. They use real (unsharpened) weapons, and are actually fighting. This is not a skit, is not pre-planned, and there are many very real injuries. But it's OK! In this sport, they beat each other up out of love.

Can I watch it?  Yes! Usually the teams or events themselves stream the matches. We'll be keeping all our followers and customers posted on upcoming matches to watch by posting links and a schedule as we receive information.

What types of events are there?  Some Renaissance Faires do have Buhurt events, although it is rare. The Buhurt fights are the most common and typically the main events involving predominately 5v5 battles in a list and can go as many as 12's or 30's at some larger U.S. based events. These events are found all over the U.S. throughout the year. There are also duels and 1v1 pro-fights called "Outrance fights" on the east coast and west coast, various smaller competitions across the US throughout the year at which teams qualify for larger matches. There is an annual large event in North Carolina called Carolina Carnage, and an annual international competition which the best teams from around the globe compete in. This is usually held in Europe.
